The Association is pleased to announce and welcome our new patron, General Sir Robert Pascoe KCB MBE and Mentioned in Despatches (twice) who has kindly agreed to act as the Association’s figurehead.
General Bob as he prefers to be known as these days was commissioned into the Oxfordshire & Buckinghamshire Light Infantry in 1952 and served in the Suez Canal Zone, Osnabruck and Cyprus.
He has served with the 1st and 2nd Battalions of the Royal Green Jackets and was first mentioned in despatches serving in Borneo in 1966.
The award of the MBE followed in 1968 as a Company Commander 1RGJ in Cyprus. General Rob went onto be Commanding Officer of 1RGJ in BAOR from where he served two tours of Northern Ireland being once again mentioned in despatches in 1974.
Rising through the ranks he became General Officer Commanding NI in 1985 and became Knight Commander of the Order of the Bath that same year.
General Bob retired in 1990 and has since been heavily involved with several ex services charities as he is passionate about the welfare of veterans.
The General attended the NIVA annual service of remembrance on 16/9/17 where he took the salute of the parade alongside relatives of our Fallen. NIVA are delighted to welcome General Rob aboard!
and the twitter is fine ...but 184 followers is ****
What you need is a powerful money man behind you. Money makes things happen. Supports these dreadful legal claims and puts the history of Op Ban into the true light. Must have been 300,000 men who served and all risked their life, some lost it to the bandits ! You need to get your new patron to find money. If I was a general and so smart ( I was just a Lt) as your new figurehead I would lunch with Lord Ashcroft. Explain that all of you deserve VCs and he needs to buy a life now for all you brave men !!
T
SIR its toast and tea for breakfast and last supper.
