Twenty five years ago this evening, a British Midland flight from London Heathrow to Belfast crashed near the M1 motorway whilst attempting an emergency landing at East Midland airport. Among the 47 people who died were 5 members of the armed forces who were returning to duty in the Province:

WO1 David Hastings RAPC
Cpl Timothy Hicks RMP
L/Cpl Judith Pattison WRAC
Sgt Richard Ramsaroop RAF
Pte Jonathan Turner RPC

WO1 Hastings is one of our graves in Gloucester; it's a nice private headstone in the Cremation part of Coleford Cemetry; sadly I think it is only me and the wife; and our offline member in Gloucester who visit.

Ironic to think of the dagers we faced over there and then to die in a plane crash,like our 'rosey" Gnr Rose who survived 71 tour of Belfast to be killed in an RTA near Lydd in 72, we will remember them.
