                        Lest We Forget !

                        Step inside young laddie
And sign on the dotted line.
                        It's a good life as a soldier.
                        Don't worry, you'll be fine,
We promise you can learn a trade
                        Or maybe drive the tanks!
We'll teach you how to earn respect
And move up through the ranks.

That's what the army told him,
So he signed up full of dreams,
Then he learned about the army,
And it's nothing like it seems.
It was 'Soldier clean your rifles"
                        "Soldier, earn your pay!"
                        "Soldier I'm an officer,
                        And you'll learn to obey!"
                        They told him:
                        'You have earned some leave,
                        Young soldier, have some fun."
Then they shipped him out to Ireland
Just a young boy with his gun.
                        "Guard the Bogside, soldier!
                        And destroy that barricade.
                        Then report to checkpoint seven
For your 'R and R,' parade.
There's a riot on in Belfast,
                        With some snipers running free,
                        Just use your rubber bullets.
                        You'll be all right - you'll see!
                        Don't be frightened, you're a soldier!
                        Though you're only twenty two,
You signed on the dotted line
And you've got your job to do!”

Now we're at your grave side, Soldier,
                        We'll bury you with pride.
                        Full Military Honours
For a hero who has died.
You fought for Queen and Country,
To bring peace where there was strife.
You were running to help the children
When the bastards took your life!
                        When poppy petals are scattered,
                        We'll add another one,
For a boy who died in Ireland.

Oh God! I miss you Son!!

Master of understatement is that Vonnie.

I think it's brilliant, spot on and it came from where it matters most - be proud and thank you for the PM.
