That was the day I left UK, we were travelling on the underground to Heathrow when the news of the bombings came through by word of mouth.

Was it not Regent's Park rather than Hyde park? Anyway I was in Bicester the other day so I had a walk through the cemetery. I was pleased to see John McKnight's grave well tended (one of the seven bandsmen). There are a few other military headstones there, a few RAF and RCAF due to the airfield being nearby. Also I noted the grave of a 47 year old private from the Ox and Bucks who fell in 1916. I suppose he must have been a reservist at that age, possibly a Boer war veteran.

Was in Bicester again on Thursday. John's headstone was getting a bit overgrown by a nearby conifer. I pushed as much of it behind as I could. Overall the cemetery is in good order and the church is undergoing restoration with lottery funding.
