Sergeant John Haughey of 156 Battery, 94 Locating Regiment, Royal Regiment of Artillery

Sergeant Haughey was leading a foot patrol in the Bogside area of Londonderry. As he was approaching the junction of Lonemoor Road from Stanleys Walk, a bomb, which had been hidden behind a telephone junction box exploded. Sergeant Haughey died of his injuries.
John Haughey was 32 years old, married with three children. Highly thought of by all who met him, he was in all respects, a gentleman.
