Pte Joseph Leach 1 QLR 4th June 1987

Pte J Leach Queens Lancashire Regiment was shot and killed by a IRA gunman whilst standing in the back of a Land Rover on patrol in Shaw's Road (no 21) in the Andersontown district of West Belfast.

Joseph was 21, single and came from Preston in Lancashire.

He was hit in the neck and slumped down inside the vehicle. Taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital he was pronounced dead on arrival.

This happened 3 days after his birthday.
