Norman Donaldson, 59, married, 8 children - 4 Batt UDR (Full-Time)
"Norman was killed as he left Derrygonnelly RUC Station after collecting money for a hospital charity. He was ambushed by gunmen who fired on him from behind bushes about 30 yards from the station.
It was thought that police officers who routinely closed the station at 1900 were the intended targets.
A family were held hostage at Garrison, about 12 miles away, and the family car was used in the killing. Afterward the gunmen returned to pick up their accomplices, leaving the car outside Garrison approx 200 yards from the border.
A friend of Norman's, John James Dundas, came across the scene and suffered a fatal heart attack at the wheel, crashing his car."
