A van belonging to Karl Construction, a Co Antrim based firm who carried out work for the Security Forces, was returning from Lisanelly barracks in Omagh. Aboard were fourteen workers from Cookstown, Magherafelt, Ballymena and Doagh.
As the minibus reached Teebane crossroads at around 1730 a 500lb device, contained in blue plastic bins and left beside a telegraph pole, was detonated leaving a crater six metres wide and one metre deep.
Seven workers were killed instantly and an eighth died four days later.
The other six workers were all badly injured.
David Harkness, 23, single from Cookstown.
William Gary Bleeks,35, single, from Cookstown.
Cecil James Caldwell, 37, married with one child, from Cookstown.
Robert Dunseith, 25, single, from Magherafelt.
John Richard McConnell, 38, married with three children, from Doagh.
Nigel McKee, 22, single, from Ballymena.
Robert Irons, 61, married with one child, from Ballymena.
