1972
On 27th January 1972 at 8.15am Sergeant Gilgun, aged 26 and Constable Montgomery, aged 20, were members of a mobile patrol which was returning to Rosemount RUC GC Station, Londonderry. At the junction of Creggan Hill with Helen Street their vehicle was fired upon by gunmen, they were both shot and fatally injured.

On 27th January 1977 at 9.00am Detective Constable McNulty, aged 30, was off duty when he was ambushed and shot dead by gunmen at a garage in Strand Road, Londonderry as he left his private car in for a service.
