Lt Commander John McMaster, aged 47, was murdered whilst off duty at his shop in Church Lane, Belfast on 18 July 1991. His killers were members of the so called Irish Peoples Liberation Organisation which was an offshoot of the INLA. They were also responsible for the murder of an RUC constable.
