5th Bn. Ulster Defence Regiment - E Coy (Part Time)
Shot by IRA gunmen in Bellaghy as he waited for a lift to work. His fourteen-year-old son witnessed his father's murder.

David had survived a previous attempt on his life by the IRA.

He was married with three children, and Off Duty at the time of his murder.

Davy McQuillan was related to my wife's family, his widow became a regular visitor to the family house.

A tragic loss, during a time of carnage in this area at the hands of the PIRA.
