I remember it well. The circumstances of their deaths was used as a main feature point for my build-up training prior to deploying a few months later in 1989. An awful situation that was brought home to us all on the mainland.

They will never be forgotten.

I remember watching it on tv in safety down here and seeing all those black cabs blocking thier escape and wondering why they did not open fire as thier situation could not get any worse.
For those of you who read secret spanner under Co Antrim, you may realise why I was shaking when I saw what was happenning to those blokes.
Never forgotten.

And also what cowards ... I watched a presentation on the incident which included ALL the "Heli tele" footage taken from the Lynx that was filming the funeral parade. You can imagine that the footage would not have been considered acceptable to be shown on TV to the general public. The Lynx pilot was presented with a RUC Chief Constables (I think) Commendation.
