Forty one years ago today, Sergeant Martin Carroll of 45 Regiment Royal Artillery was murdered by a terrorist sniper whilst on duty at Blighs Lane army base in Londonderry.
On behalf of NIVA, I visited Marty's grave today and took a photograph. By the looks of things, I had narrowly missed a visit by his family as a fresh potted flower was laid at his grave site.
Rest in Peace fellow Gunner.
