Today is the 67th anniversary of Australias biggest ever single loss when HMAS Sydney was sunk by a German raider off the West Aus coast with the loss of all hands, one man made it to an island but died and was buried there, the body was recently exhumed and today was buried in a military cemetary, the ship was only found in March of this year and it has never been explained how a single raider, disguised as a cargo ship, was able to sink a battle cruiser.
Services have been held including one at sea over the site of the wreck, the first time they have been able to do that .
We will remember them.
