I have just run a check on AFM for those with missing details and came up with the following which I hope may add to your info in some small way.

435417 Col EATON, Charles (42) TA 30 June 1976 AFM states that his home town was Londonderry and was in STAFF (is that Staff Corps or Staffordshire Regt?)

23962701 Cpl DEAN, Albert Edward John Unit NK Age NK 10 July 1977 Not listed on AFM
However THERE IS A DEAN Albert Edward listed as ACC Age 21 Born 1927 Died 1948 interred at St Giles Church, Willenhall, Staffs. It seems too much to be a coincidence. Maybe a check to see if both father & son are buried in same family plot?

22209313 Sgt McCLEAN, Samuel Cameron (52) 30 May 1981 Listed on AFM as RA lived in Newtownards

24065740 Cpl McFARLAND, Norman Alexander (43) 5 June 1990 Listed on AFM as UDR Newtown Stewart

24787664 L/Cpl STRONGE, Nigel Thomas (28) 6 May 2000 Listed on AFM as UDR Omagh

I have taken note of those RCT lads listed and will try asking the Association etc.

Hi Jock,do you have any more information ref Tpr Knipe?

The reason I ask is that I have been in contact over the last couple of years with a Martin & Lynette Knipe that live in Cornwall.

Al, the only info we have is what is on his entry in our ROH, that he was struck on the head by a brick thrown by a kid. I have downloaded something from the "Troubles Magazine" which has an article in it copied from the Belfast Telegraph from that time.

Cheers mucker. Because I had to type the whole thing from scratch from a spreadsheet, there was bound to be a couple of errors and omissions like unit. I'll make the corrections.

Thats more or less what I figured mate.
It only goes to show what dedication those grave registration guys must have had, despite our odd misgivings.
The constant cross referencing you do and the rooting round old files will drive you cross eyed, and I dont want to meddle as it may only end up increasing your work load.
I have put feelers out about the RCT/RLC list, so might get a nibble there.
Maybe other members of this site could do the same with the names from their own cap badge, eh?
Those who are listed as UDR or who were regulars from NI might be a lot harder to chase up without close co-operation from UDR Association though - and it would be a major task at their end.
I was somewhat staggered when I saw how long that list is mate.

I knew it would be a fairly long list, but I didn't expect 10 pages of them.
The next task is to compile the list of those who's cause of death is unknown. That will be another long one. The answers are out there but you won't know until you ask the questions.

he was given a military funeral at Catterick Garrison where he was laid to rest in the military cemetary

Thanks P-C. There are four others laid to rest there that have already been photographed. One of them, Tpr Philip Smith is also 13/18 Hussars, 27 July 1978. They must have been almost laid side by side. Shame he wasn't seen at the time.
I'll note the location mate and adjust the list.

I've got all the details G, but the photo I have of his grave is a couple of years old and it shows the gravestone to be in a sad state. If it has been tidied or cleaned, can you take another. If it is untouched as before, then we should really try to do something about it.
