Prices have risen sharply because of the downfall in the Euro effecting the cocktail umbrella trade.
Cherries dont grow on trees you know, and if you want a twist of lemming you are into what has become a specialist high-end market owing to the import restrictions on endangered species.
You just cant get the wood anymore either.
YOU may not want your pint tarted up with all these fol-de-rols but they still have to be provided by the landlord if he wants to retain his place in todays cut-throat entertainment business.
But does anybody think of the poor publican?

The headstone is indeed in a sad state but it can't be sorted by just scrubbing it as the lettering would then peel off. Helen has kindly offered to adopt Tommy and will be seeking a professional quote as there are no known relatives remaining. I have suggested that NIVA would be happy to contribute.

Bless her, Helen's gone back this morning and painted Tommy's name over on the headstone and war memorial. I think I might finally have persuaded her to come down to the NMA in September but she works most Saturdays. For those that don't know, Helen knew George Muncaster from our 76/77 tour and attended his military funeral in Bootle and was one of the original NIVA members who Chris and I first met at the infamous NIVA ball in Huyton...

Saw the photos. Shows what can be done with very little effort. The improvement just by being able to read the inscription is amazing.

Yes mate. If you go Forum, then skim all the way down to In Remembrance/NI Burial Locations, open that then on page 42 you will see an up to date list in county order of all the ones we know. Those highlighted have been photographed already. If you don't see the ones you know on that list, let me know by either private message on on this thread where they are and I will add them to the list and arrange for them to be visited.
It should be noted that of the 1500+ on our ROH, the graves of 300+ are still to be located and there is no information as to where they are. But each week, little snippets of info comes in and another grave located so its not a lost cause .... far from it. Someone somewhere will know where a mate was buried or he was pall bearer at a funeral somewhere.
We have all done well but the job is not finished, nor will it be until we find the last one.

Cheers mucker. We traced Alan to Blaris Cemetery in Lisburn NI and we have a photo of his gravestone. Its in fair condition and just needs the lichen scraped off it and a going over with the brush and water.
Was he by chance a local lad.

If I get a couple of spare hours tonight, I will update the list on page one. I will highlight in blue all the ones we have managed to find since this list was posted and move the whole entry on to the most recent page on this thread. I will then "stick" the thread to stop it disappearing amongst the other stuff.
